He has been at the forefront of introducing modern treatment options - including minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) and non-penetrating glaucoma surgery (NPGS) - and is widely regarded for his ability to integrate these innovations safely and effectively, either alone or combined with cataract surgery. Dr Clement completed his medical degree at the University of Sydney in 2001, his residency at Royal North Shore Hospital and his advanced ophthalmology training at Sydney Eye Hospital. He then undertook subspecialty training in the United Kingdom, including a clinical ophthalmology fellowship at the Royal United Hospital, Bath, a glaucoma fellowship at the Western Eye Hospital, London, and further specialist glaucoma training at the University of Geneva, Switzerland. He is currently an honorary medical officer at Sydney Eye Hospital and a senior clinical lecturer at the University of Sydney, where he supervises and mentors ophthalmologists in training. Dr Clement is one of only two ophthalmologists in Australia elected as a Fellow of the International Society of Glaucoma Surgery.
